Dr. Francisca Pérez is part of the Research Team in Nutrition that collaborates with Mediterranean Natural in the improvement of production processes and formulation of our products for dogs.
Recently we presented in our blog to Dr. Salvador Zamora Navarro the first member of the team of experts from the Department of Physiology at the University of Murcia who works with Mediterranean Natural in quality control and development and innovation of our snacks and semi-moist food for dogs.
As we already announced, we will be making known to the rest of the team.
Dr. Francisca Pérez Llamas
Dr. Francisca Pérez Llamas, was born in Mula (Murcia) and graduated in Biology at the University of Murcia (1984). She completed her PhD in 1985 and obtained a PhD in Biology from the University of Murcia in 1989 under the Direction Of Mr. Salvador Zamora Navarro, with the qualification of Cum Laude.
She studied a Master in Nutrition and Diet Therapy at the University of Murcia. She has enjoyed several scholarships and research grants, including a Research Fellowship Training Scholarship, and has received the Research Award 2007, awarded by the Academy of Pharmacy Santa Maria of Spain. She is a teacher at the University of Murcia, in the Physiology area since 1996.
She has been for almost 6 years (2000-2005), Director of the “Aula de Mayores”, later called “Senior Aula” (University Program for Older People of the University of Murcia) and She is Teacher-Coordinator of a subject of this same Program for the Elderly, since its inception, 19 years ago at the Headquarters in Murcia; And in the Headquarters of Lorca, this last seat created under her direction in 2002. She has been Deputy Dean of Studies in Biology and International Relations from January 2012 to December 2015.
She holds a twelve-month Predoctoral Stay in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Granada, under the direction of Mr. Fermín Sánchez de Medina Contreras; and a Postdoctoral Stay (12 months) at the Nutrition Research Center TNO, at The Netherlands.
Her teaching work focuses on the coordination and delivery of classes in various subjects, all belonging to the field of Nutrition, which is or has also been Teacher Responsible.

She has participated as a teacher in various Doctorate courses, University Specialist and Master, both organized by the University of Murcia and other Spanish Universities.
She has edited 11 books, in addition to publishing about 45 chapters of books, and more than 50 articles in Specialized Scientific Journals in the field of Nutrition. She is a member of the Spanish Nutrition Society (SEN), and has been a Vocal Member of the Society for 10 years. She has participated as a speaker in numerous national and international scientific congresses and director of 6 doctoral theses that have obtained the highest qualification in all of them.
She is a member of the Nutrition Research Group of the University of Murcia, where she is part of the Responsible Researcher of the Human Nutrition Work Line. Among its Researchs are: Assessment of the nutritional status of population groups, especially the Elderly. Diet and cardiovascular risk. Diet and risk of overweight and obesity. Nutrition and aging. Nutritive quality of food.
She is currently Deputy Dean of Students and International Relations of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Murcia, since January 2016.
Thanks to the collaboration agreement signed with the University of Murcia, Dr. Francisca Pérez Llamas brings all her knowledge and experience both in the formulations and in the production processes of the products for dogs of Mediterranean Natural. It is certainly a pleasure and pride for us.
